That’s the power of the Ministry of Truth – and we have that. We’ve had it for some time.
I remember when I was younger and I read 1984, the idea of the ministry of truth was a little terrifying, but seemed utterly impractical. They would literally scour results and physically change and manipulate copies getting rid of the originals. It was a neat concept and as far ahead as orwell could imagine, but do not doubt for a second that we actually live in a time and place when this is far easier to do. A couple of quick clicks on a keyboard and all of the evidence disappears, but you don’t even need that to happen when everybody is walking, or rather goose-stepping, arm-in-arm together
